friendly reminder scanlan can conjure a mansion to stay in every night. 

i mention bc i keep reading little pieces of scanlan and kaylie on the road and they’re staying at inns all the time. why would they unless specifically trying to keep the mansion secret. he literally never has to pay room and board unless he used his highest level spell in extremis. 

also scanlan left thordak’s lair with 200 platinum (2000 gold) for his personal use. 

this is not accounting for his, as well as kaylie’s, money making potential. they both have stupid high charisma modifiers that almost assures anything related to earning or stealing money turns out in their favor. 

i’m just saying

if he can keep from using it badly, scanlan absolutely has the resources to buy into the suude market and become a drug kingpin like sam keeps joking/threatening. or to go back to ank harel and find those spice con artists and fuck them up. or anything, really. this guy can, as one other scanlan post put it excellently, “fuck up someone’s entire life by humming a tune.” 

i just thought i’d mention after last night’s talks with the half-elves in debate over scanlan’s whereabouts and wellbeing. 

I think the rationale behind having him not use the mansion in fanfictions is usually that it’s too full of painful memories and a few choice pieces of art. And even if he didn’t conjure those anymore and made an entirely different house, well… Sentimentality and stuff.
