A mage who gradually collects spells that consist of scientific reasons why the creature they’re facing can’t exist / function / hurt the party.

Party: *menaced by giant spiders*
Mage: I cast Square-Cube Law!
Giant spiders: *collapse under their own weight*

(All spells of this type are of course severely reduced in power if an enemy mage casts Suspension of Disbelief.)
