What with the new campaign running at the same time as the comic now, and this intro story arc being essentially the same time period in VM’s relationship the comic is covering, the comic is even more frustrating by comparison. The last two episodes have had seven-eight different people (depending on how you want to count Matt or Ashley) telling the story, and it still feels more cohesive, and the characters feel more real, and everyone gets a moment, and uggghhh

Yep. : I’ve already had people telling me “well, that’s what Scanlan does, he talks and sings and…”, etc, and I’m biting my tongue because I don’t want to get into a huge debate about it (I posted a much shorter and warier version of my rant on Reddit and of course Coville saw it, so, ugh, social media anxiety, hi). But the short version of what I thought in response to that was basically, “Maybe, but SAM HAS BETTER TABLE ETIQUETTE THAN THIS.” If Critical Role had been this much of The Scanlan Shorthalt Show, I would have stopped watching months ago.
