I really enjoy your posts. I don’t always agree with your points but I appreciate the meta you write up and the discussions you inspire. I hope this new round of people who think any criticism or “I wasn’t a fan of this moment” comment is some kind of scathing attack that must be destroyed, don’t deter you from continuing. I don’t want to see this fandom stomp out any discussions or differing opinions other than “this show is perfect and I love everything and never dislike any moment!”

Hey thank you very much! I do enjoy writing that meta and analyzing character relationships. Don’t worry, I won’t let people’s reactions affect me, because I know they come from a different point of view and that makes total sense. I mean, I don’t think the show is perfect but also I don’t meant to say it’s any worse when I write my analysis…

I think that’s the part that others don’t understand, that when I write this stuff it’s out of love for this show and I think it’s even more perfect for all its complexities…

Thanks for your lovely message! You rock!

It’s a troubling trend I’ve noticed in recent years, some fans seem to think any criticism or discussion or debate about things in a piece of media means you don’t like it, or hate it, or aren’t a “true fan” and should go away and stop making people think about things. “I didn’t enjoy this scene” or “I didn’t like this line a character said” is interpreted as “negativity” or “hate” that has to be quashed or driven out of the main tags or out of forums or out of the fandom entirely.

Which just leads to fandom stagnation because nobody wants to do meta or discuss things or feels comfortable voicing opinions at all if they didn’t 100% love something.

Like if I only watched things I had zero issues with, I’d have … 2 shows to watch and a few movies? If that? It’s impossible to love something 100% of the time no matter what, especially a long running piece of media. There’s gonna be stuff you don’t like, or that doesn’t connect to you, or that even makes you angry, and that’s ok! That’s healthy and natural! Talking about it with other fans in a respectful way makes for a creative fandom!

I’m so tired of seeing people lash out at reaction posts and meta posts. I’m tired of seeing people have to go “I love the show I love the cast this isn’t hate” before launching into some meta. I’m tired of people defending every single thing a character does and accusing those who point out flaws or nuance of being “haters.” I’m so very tired.

Honestly, the assumption you’d watch something, pay attention to detail, take the time to phrase and write out your thoughts, and engage with the nasty beast called fandom for something you HATE is… Kind of out there from the get-go for any fandom, ever.

Applying that logic for something where the average episode is 4 fucking hours long
