also as much as we all protect marisha from the actual gremlins, there is a very real & very strange backlash to anything laura or her characters ever do and i will never not be immediately suspicious of people who engage in that… even if it’s “just” undermining her characters to interpret them as childish & weak

Yeah there’s misogyny all around and it’s much more overt now that Laura isn’t playing the “hot cool girl” and is playing a much more extroverted bubbly type who’s taking up more space at the table with her character. 

(Vex was so much more than a “hot cool girl” stock role, but her storylines were always minimized at the table and a lot of jerks completely wrote her off as such. They turned real fast on Laura once Jester started being loud and spending time in the spotlight. They hate it when women take up space at the table and speak up and impact the plot and make their own decisions. Even Vex didn’t escape this entirely, remember the “Broomgate” fallout? People acted like Laura murdered someone IRL, it was UNFORGIVABLE, HOW DARE SHE. I really hoped these people would pack up and leave the fandom between CR1 and CR2 but no such luck.)
