What I love about Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle is how she totally embraces being an old lady. It takes like 24 hours to go “fuuuuck” to “oooh, old lady is my aesthetic.”
Suddenly in the body of an 80 year old woman? “Welp, time to run off to the Wastes, the most dangerous place I can find! And while I’m at it I’m gonna boss around a demon and a powerful hipster wizard. #YOLO as the kids say!”
And while I don’t think they emphasize it quite as much in the movie, you get to the end of the book and it’s like “Oh the curse? Yeah Sophie had the power to break it this whole time, she just likes being an old lady.”
And Sophie just kind of shrugs like “Honestly? Mood.”
