No, that is not a popular phrase that I’m aware of at all.
That’s … that’s a rape joke. That’s the man who wrote the CR comic making a rape joke and “comedically” encouraging violence towards people who disliked the recent event in Critical Role.
If you’ve ever watched any of this YouTube series (Running the Game), you’d know that Matt Colville has always been very sensitive about his players. I’m not excusing that if it was a rape joke, really, but he’s always cautioned people on content being appropriate and friendly for everyone at the table. If anyone is uncomfortable, the game isn’t fun anymore.
He is however a proponent of strategy. Colvile tends to run his campaigns more like war games from my understanding, so of course he’s super into letting PCs die. To him, it’s a failure to plan, and that needs consequences. Not to mention that I think this is a negative response to people going after Matt Mercer, who he would defend to the death I think.
That’s just the thing, isn’t it? Colville is a great advocate in his videos for all these sensitive issues, and then turns around and is the opposite of sensitive when someone criticizes his questionable characterization of female characters.
Defending Matt against the hatred is one thing. Taking into account how genuinely upset pretty much the entire fanbase is and the many heartfelt, soul-baring posts and comments made by Taliesin, Matt, Ashly, Brian, and Liam since and then calling for even more PC death to make everyone even more upset is… Let’s say, in poor taste.
Changing a popular phrase until it calls for rape, no matte in what sort of context, is also kind of always in poor taste.
