Curious Blue Shark

(source)

this shark is the most earnest creature on the entire planet

WHAT THIS

WHAT IT DO

BOOP

@why-animals-do-the-thing ???

This is probably investigatory behavior! As we talked about a couple years ago on the blog, sharks have lots of little sensory organs around their nose and mouth called Ampullae of Lorenzini.

They’re basically little gel-filled pores that sense electric current, and they’re why sharks investigate everything with their faces. Sharks bump things with their nose to put their ampullae near them in an attempt to learn about them – like finding out if you’re animal, vegetable or mineral, and if you could potentially be edible.

From the video linked, we can see the shark is swimming around checking out the divers (who appear to be hanging out at a decompression stop), before coming over closer to the guy who is filming. This isn’t aggressive behavior – it looks like simply curiosity. It’s not a shark kiss, it’s a shark question: what are you?

we all thought it would be Caduceus who’d take one look at the 4 firbolg enchanters and have a full blown gay awakening but in truth it was Pumat “you brighten the room” Sol who saw our very own pink-haired vision of pastel aesthetic beauty and felt his heart explode

Caduceus Clay has his gay awakening the second he was born and you can’t change my mind

caduceus had to be awakened to that fact that some people are straight

So my psychiatrist wanted me to take an IQ test and I wasn’t really sure why, the dude is pretty eccentric but I suppose it’s for demographic purposes and you’ll never fuckin guess what I got

OP don’t leave us in suspense

420

“jk it was 158″

I’m not sure if that tag is itself a joke or not but 158 it already an incredibly high iq.  You better not be pulled our collective legs here.

No that was the score I got. I’ve taken IQ tests before in high school and was always around 140. It’s just logical intelligence, though. Not social, not artistic, not really even book smarts. It’s basically a score of how good you are at problem solving and isn’t really indicative of your overall intelligence. Honestly I consider myself in all other aspects to be of average intelligence. I have problems with social queues as well and problems retaining information.

also rmemeber the fact that op is a literal fucking astrophysicist. i fucking hope they have an iq like that.

That’s a good point lol I’m good at physics but like….. can’t work an oven and I’m not allowed to use weedwhackers

“Not allowed to use weedwhackers”…plz elaborate

They move fast and cut things including ankles and shins

dear caretakers of children: stop telling kids “I don’t care who started it!”. you’re teaching children to ignore unequal power balances. that leads to legitimate belief in things like reverse racism, misandry, heterophobia, etc. you’re teaching children that it’s wrong to retaliate when they are wronged. “who started it” is very, very relevant.

It can also teach them that defending themselves is wrong and set them up for abuse later in life.

It always matters who started it. One person is defending themselves, and one person instigated it. When you tell them you “don’t care who started it” you’ve taught one of them that if they defend themselves they will be punished for doing so. You’ve taught the other one that they can do whatever they wish to others, no one will punish only them for it, their victim will be seen as equally accountable for what happened.

Is that really a lesson you want your kids to absorb?

Wow that is strange that it seems so normal to hear “I don’t care who started it!”

I…. wish I would have heard this more….

All these “zero tolerance policies” really ram home these same terrible lessons.  In many schools, getting punched in the face is punished equally with punching someone in the face.

can we also dystroy the concept of snitching? like, i ALWAYS got in trouble when i would “tattle” on someone wronging me.
