If you’re transgender and trying to vote, you may have some unique worries about voter disenfranchisement.

But your gender should NOT be a barrier to the ballot.

The National Center for Transgender Equality released this handy “Voting While Trans” checklist that covers things like what to do if you live in a state that requires a photo ID and your gender presentation doesn’t match the legal sex on your license.

And hey, if your state allows mail-in/absentee voting, maybe you can skip the nonsense at the polls altogether.
