i had the best human interaction of all time last night. i was sitting at a bar eating an appetizer and this guy comes up to order a drink and stares at my food and comments how good it looks. when i am drunk i use the word bitch like it is a comma, i plug it into any space in a sentence possible. so naturally the first thing i say to this stranger is, “go ahead and take one, bitch.”
he looks SO shocked and taken aback and goes “what did you just say? how do you know my name?” so i sit there for a moment trying to figure out what the fuck he is talking about, and then go, “…. bitch?” and he looks so relieved and tells me his name is mitch.
i cannot stop thinking about this. oh my god. imagine going into a bar and someone you know for a fact youve never met approaches you and says “go ahead and take one, mitch.” im cracking the fuck up. he looked like he thought this was the fucking truman show
for those wondering, i mean ‘spam with walnuts’ as in spamming someone’s inbox/notifications with the phrases ‘walnut’, ‘absolute walnut’, ‘you absolute fucking walnut’, etc.
it’s something i’ve encouraged my followers to do in the past, the idea being to harmlessly troll assholes without engaging in useless or destructive discourse. similar to the kung pow penis meme (but better)
being a female means needing to see 10 different doctors to get a proper diagnosis because they always think you’re exaggerating and/or lying
define proper diagnosis. I mean, does that just mean the diagnosis you want?
no 🙂 it means going to 10 different doctors who disbelieved your symptoms until the 11th found cysts on your ovaries 🙂 which may mean infertility 🙂 sit on a cactus 🙂
or being told not being able to walk up a flight of stairs without fainting/not being able to stay awake for more than 5 hours was ‘anxiety’ until finally the 5th doctor you saw diagnosed ur CFS/ME
It’s not getting proper treatment for over a decade because people think another female only disease isn’t real. And your insurance still does not cover your prescription even though it’s the only one you can take.
Dismissing symptoms for three years before finally sending you to a specialist and suddenly everything is happening very very fast because it is so obviously cancer.
or being told for ten years that your constant stomaches are probably caused by weird eating habits, overweight or not enough work out and suddenly your gall bladder gets removed in an emergency surgery – including about 10 gall stones.
And don’t even talk to me about being (a cis) female with mental health issues. “Do you feel the worst when you’re on your period?” “Yes.” “It’s probably just hormones then, honestly.” Or, or, OR, hormones just aggravate the problems I already experience, and I still have issues every other time of the month as well. (I had no full explanation of what was actually wrong with me until I saw a counsellor who only asked about my mental health throughout a typical week, and didn’t ask about my goddamn period, or hormones, or whether or not I had a boyfriend or had recently been through a breakup)
Or (and this was admittedly to my grandma over 40 years ago) when you, A NURSE, say that something is wrong with your daughter’s eye and three doctors, including the one you work with say you’re just overreacting until you drive to see a specialist who says,
“Call your husband and tell him to come up here now. Your daughter needs immediate surgery.”
Because oh look, the nurse was right! It’s cancer and now it’s so far gone the only thing that can be done to save the kid is to cut the eye out!
It’s an extremely popular opinion among middle and upper class white people.
Also, aside from this completely uneducated reasoning as to why minimum wage was created…
I can guarantee that there are tens of thousands of teenagers who have to pay bills and help support their families or are the only financial supporter to their family.
not to mention, if minimum wage was meant solely for high school students how would the business survive when students are in school?? are they only supposed to be open on the weekend? this “unpopular opinion” makes no sense.
Unpopular fact: in the 70s a minimum wage worker could pay for college with a summer job.
Unpopular fact: minimum wage was conceived to be the minimum amount of money a person would need to support themselves and their families when working 40 hours per week.
Unpopular fact: minimum wage was created because working men and women in this nation fought–figuratively in the negotiating room and literally in the streets–for a fair working wage, with sweat and blood and tears and death.
Unpopular fact: military service personnel are not the only people who have fought and died for your rights as American: labor leaders and common workers laid down their lives so that you could have a 40 hour work week instead of 80 hours; so you could have a 2 day weekend instead of none; so you could have lunch and bathroom breaks instead of going hungry and shitting your pants,; so you could have a three day weekend in September.
Capitalism would NEVER dole out basic human decency without literal human sacrifice.
