While I’m as excited about the new UK based Critical Role store as the next gal, just, well, make informed choices, fam.

(Shipping costs calculated for cheapest options to ship to Germany. Maybe US shipping to your country is so immense that ordering from the UK store is worth it, maybe not. Educate yourself!)

heads up, yall: getting the art book from the US store may be cheaper than from the UK one

do keep in mind that credit cards and such charge a conversion fee and use their own currency conversion rates too, so xe.com isn’t going to give you the exact price you’ll end up paying. also, that currency rates change a lot

but yes, you should always compare your options and sometimes, even often, the dollar is weak enough to make it worthwhile

Conversion rates were from the little tool google gives you when you type in dollar or pound to euro. When paypal showed me my total, it didn’t differ much from this at all. And even if it did, no conversion fee comes even close to being the additional $ 30 that the UK artbook costs more than the US one. Not even in addition to the shipping and what you have to pay at customs (9€ for the last artbook, in my case). I wouldn’t be complaining about this if I hadn’t done the math.

I don’t see any reason to complain about additional context so that people can understand the decisions they’re making and do their own math either? Especially when I’m not arguing with your main point at all. The shipping on the UK depot is much higher than I expected it to be, especially for such an expensive item. But the math on currency changes day to day is my whole point

I do also think there’s teething problems with the pricing in general btw, we’re agreed on that one, but there’s taxes and such that are different between the territories that could be having an impact on messing things up too

Sorry, I might have gotten a little snippy due to a lot of people trying to “well, actually” me on this. Yes, the exact conversion rates change on a daily basis (though unless another Brexit or something similar happens, like, tomorrow, not drastically enough to matter much for the timeframe in which preorder of the artbook is available), yes there’s additional costs because of customs and taxes. I took that as an attack on my claim, since people tried to explain to me that after customs, the UK deal might actually be better, when it is not. At all. You weren’t one of those people and I’m sorry for misunderstanding your intent.
