CR Comic Spoilers

So, like, 90% of the comic was amazing. Vax was hilarious, most of the twin banter was on point, Keyleth was just perfect. I especially love the facial expressions the twins have going on most of the time. And bless everyone for not playing up Vax and Keyleth’s first meeting as too much of a meet cute.

I, ah, can’t help but be a little put off by Vex’s characterization though. Not about being cranky for risking their lives for 13 gold. That’s fine, that’s her, that’s reasonable even. Being callous about, you know, infanticied and the general situation? Also very much in-tune with her and her jokes that are extreeeemely poorly timed sometimes (lute-playing, anyone?).

But, you know, looking down on peasants “I’m technically noble because my father was”-Vex is definitely not “If I could tear your blood from my veins I would”-Vex. Like, at all. Especially when she says stuff like that to Vax… True, she has never been as preoccupied as Vax in regards to their mom in what we saw, but if she had ever been like this, Vax’s reaction to her actually being nobility would have been a lot different. Hell, Vex’s issues about her social standing would have been different. This just feels… Out of place. And off.

Speaking of which, early episodes!Vax that we saw hasn’t exactly been the clear moral compass he seems to be pitted as here. That only happened slowly while the Vaxleth situation developed and he got into looking for religion. Before that, he was much more neutral, if slightly more inclined to help, from what I recall. Ah, well. Conflict and banter and plot necessity, I suppose.

Also, Trinket not being seen is a bit weird. I get not taking him along into the swamp – there’s no way the puny single digit strength twins would have been able to haul him out of anything if he’d sunken in. Not taking him along when tailing someone I get, too. A bear isn’t too stealthy. What I don’t understand is not mentioning him, or showing him in the interim.

And if this is supposed to take place before Vex got him, that makes no sense either. The twins clearly have been out of Syngorn for a while at this point and are way older than the Vex in Laura’s short story was. Also the Vex we see here is way too capable and way too jaded to be taken advantage of the way she was in that story.

Also, I’m pretty sure that Taliesin assumes some family member of Percy is in that Death Knight armor, given how he reacted to that question last night. The topic of where the bodies went has come up on occasion, with Matt specifically saying that he knows where they are…

I mean, it would make more sense than Silas Briarwood suddenly attempting to conceal his identity. And seeing how Delilah was still, you know, a bit bitter about his passing away, I think it’s fair to say that Silas is gone for good. More ways to fuck with Percy, though? Totally something Matt would do.

Rewatching is great. Now if only there was a way to filter youtube comments, because the next time I see someone say Vex’s first death was “punishment” for her “greed” and “meta-gaming” I’m going to fucking break something

A CR 2, save DC 12 bullet that is a mini-boss in the second dungeon to the starter set of this game that most of the characters could OHKO. I’d hazard a guess that the information the nothic had faaaaar, far outweighed the threat it posed.

Oh god, so if Nothics collect secrets and knowledge about Vecna, what are the chances Liam just killed their one opportunity to find out about a secret weakness of the guy? And that’s why Matt looked so… Is remorseful the right word to use? The other would be devastated, but that doesn’t quite fit.

He’s not alone. I know this makes sense to Matt but it did not translate to a lot of the fanbase, myself included. I hope this makes sense before the show is over. 

Speaking of which! Remember when people went around and told us to shut up about this like the nice and agreeable Scanlan fans who were upset with the cover art but ultimately quietly accepted it? So much so that they have now released alternative book covers? Good times! 🙂

Since apparently it is Hogwarts AU… Afternoon in my timezone

In the order they appear in for the intro:

Grog: The way Travis plays him on the show, Slytherin. I can easily see him going Hufflepuff or Gryffindor in a less violent AU which calls for fewer questionable choices, though.

Keyleth: Gryffindor, maybe Hufflepuff, but her self-sacrificial tendencies at the beginning of the series and the way she loses her temper strikes me as more of a Gryffindor thing.

Percy: Ravenclaw in a “the de Rolos are all alive and flooding Hogwarts” AU. They’re a Ravenclaw family. As he’s seen on the show, though, definitely Slytherin.

Pike: Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, but I see her going more towards Hufflepuff.

Scanlan: Slytherin. Since I seem to be listing secondary houses for everyone, his would be Ravenclaw, but like. He is the epitome of the non-evil Slytherin, come on.

Vax: Hufflepuff. Gryffindor maybe, but too, ah, complacent with peace and quiet, I think. Maybe a Gryffindor at the beginning of the series, but as he is right now, Hufflepuff.

Vex: Slytherin. Ambitious, opportunistic, charming. Ironically enough, I’d alternatively put her into Gryffindor, but you can make a case for basically every house with her. But Slytherin is definitely my first pick.

Tary: A Ravenclaw who really, really wants to be a Gryffindor and as such would probably end up there.

Tiberius: Hard Ravenclaw. Gryffindor or Slytherin on his worse days, but obviously intended to be a Ravenclaw.

Zahra: Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Probably more of a Ravenclaw, though.

Kash: That very grumpy Hufflepuff friend.

Allura: Ravenclaw. No ambiguity there.

Kima: Gryffindor. Same.

Gilmore: I’d put him into Ravenclaw personally, but you can make a compelling case for every other house.
