maybe the grey hunt had something to do with Pelor picking vex. maybe the hunt used to be symbolic of Pelor ” hunting down and slaying the chained god “

rachkin:

that is honestly such a reach. he didnt hunt down tharizdun nor did he slay him. the grey hunt to me just seems like a whitestone tradition of poaching the local wild life for trophies. again. he has a church. filled with clerics and paladins that has devoted themselves to him. pelor picking vex over them is the equivalent of sarenrae picking scanlan over pike.

The Grey Hunt was very explicitly stated to be a religious
ritual under the helm of Pelor to choose a protector of the people and
lands of Whitestone – a place that has a special meaning to him because of what happened to Ioun, so much so that Pelor himself put a tree there.

Praying directly to Pelor was required. And resulted in Vex being technically given a vision quest. The connection wasn’t the strongest, but it was also not not there.

Sure, the are
more devout out there, but where were they during, say, the Conclave? VM
has reached a level of ability that most mortals just never do, and for
a god who seems to be very adapt at warfare, it makes sense to settle for a level 17 ranger/rogue with a gigantic laundry list of accomplishments instead of some level 5 paladin somewhere who has given his entire life to Pelor and never done a bad thing in his life.

…Silly Thought

So, god recruitment, huh? This kind of popped in my head last night, and I dunno, it’s dumb, but I like it.

So the group meets Pelor and kinda push Percy forward because, you know, patron god of his city and all that. And Percy tries, he tries so hard not to get all passive-aggressive at him. “Oh, yeah, nice tree you put there. Love what it did when everything went to shit. Absolutely nothing.” Because it’s Percy and he does not do well with this.

Pelor may or may not roll his eyes, but is kind of amused because there is a puny mortal sassing who might just be the most worshipped god in this setting and then lean over and smile at him. “Yes, well, I can tell there is not much ground for a connection between us. So why don’t you just go next door and talk to my wife while I talk to yours and see what we can do.”

Everyone: O_____O

Vex: “…Surprise?”

Percy: “…Yeah, that’s fair.”

ok like sorry that me + that one follower of mine dont consider one tweet from 2015 and something that may or may not have been flirting in an episode to be canonical but like that’s just how it goes

i mean……………………. honestly tho? regardless of how long ago it was, it’s still confirmation? like… no offence but what else do you want for vex to be an Actual Confirmed Bisexual™??? lmfao

Don’t you know we only accept pure-bred, free range organic Bisexuals around here? Please present a certificate of your entire sexual history. If you don’t constantly switch out the person you are with for another person of a different gender every day, sorry, you are not bi enough.

And no, consistently expressing attraction to more than one gender doesn’t count either, get your straight asses out of here.

Other than that, occasionally yelling “I AM BISEXUAL” into the void might to, but make sure to refresh that every other week or so, or the straight might eventually catch up to you.

Reasons for Vex to be pregnant

yaminohere:

vohalika:

Pro:

  • She’s a sexually active woman with a womb, what else is she supposed to do with it?

Con:

  • She has been drinking strong alcohol in every episode since the break except the last
  • She has been throwing herself into danger, with no objections from Percy, who is quite clearly in on the secret
  • A city with a spinning orb of death under it that might vomit the apocalypse any day now might not be the best situation to bring children into
  • Procreating before marriage is especially messy when both parents are nobles in a very small city. Messes with inheritance and shit.
  • Of her like 60~ish years of half-elven fertility, only fifteen or so have passed, so it’s not exactly a biological clock now-or-never thing
  • Which at 28 it wouldn’t be for human women either
  • The cast has repeatedly rejected the idea of “roll for pregnancy”
  • “We’re making that roll too often in real life, this is my escapism!” – Taliesin, January critmas periscope.
  • And really, why WOULD she? Or they? Even consider this? Depending on how long the arc goes, that would take Vex riiight out of it, and if anyone is attached to their characters too much to even think about that, it’s Laura
  • You could also bring real life predisposition of the actors towards children into this, but that’s also kind of gross and uncomfortable.
  • You know, gross how it was when Laura was asked about having children in a Q&A and uncomfortable as in what that question clearly made her.

Stop obsessing over her womb, fandom. Women can do way more interesting things with their lives than having babies. Especially in the escapism of role playing in a magical fantasy realm that has cantrips for that.

Allllll of this above ^^^^^^

A response to this reply:

Or don’t reduce a female character to a walking incubator?  fuck your feelings and fuck your “precious headcanon.”

Women are more than walking baby makers.

Hiiiii 🙂 thanks or answering that ridiculous reply. I decided not to because, well, it is ridiculous. I’m not even attacking headcanons, I’m just stating facts as to why the whole “omfg, Vex is totes preggers!” thing isn’t CANON.

If people feel like headcano-ing a pregnant woman has been drinking hard liquor and throwing herself into danger (while still having rock-hard abs, thanks Keyleth), I mean, they’re welcome to, but why would they. Why.

(Walking incubator problem notwithstanding)

Oh god, the outrage at the selfish spellcaster comment…

Marisha made it pretty clear that she meant that in the context of Scanlan still having an 8th level spell left to blow during the Raishan fight before his death. Now, timing is a thing and all that, but that spell slot very memorably went into Scanlan using it to modify Jarett’s memory into purchasing drugs for him.

In past battles, Scanlan has absolutely been clutch, and has probably healed more than Keyleth even when she should have, but that might just be my frail healer heart speaking here. His entire class is designed around boosting the rest of the team. So there is little evidence for that in past battles.

But that was before. Before Scanlan, you know, lashed out at them and then left for a year and then only returned under a false identity with no intention of actually revealing himself to the group while also trying to extort Percy for some guns for good measure.

And while there’s of course reasons and things done wrong on any and all sides and the rationale behind all of this is gloriously messy with everyone and no one to blame, I mean, I can’t blame the group for having trust issues.

And that’s what this is about, essentially. Both in game and out. In game because Scanlan showed up under pretty much the worst circumstances he could have, and then went on to show them his new crime syndicate (which, you know, probably was built by using quite a bit of spell casting if we go by the letter of what Marisha said instead of the intent). Too bad Vex didn’t mention that his first and immediate reaction was to try and wipe her memory, but that is an issue for another day.

So yeah. There’s no telling whether Scanlan would still be willing to be an all-out go team support player. I mean, I kind of buy into that, and I’d say his behavior during the last battle was telling and all, but that was messy and at the end of an almost 6 hour episode, and literally one battle. And unlike, well, us here, the cast doesn’t frequently rewatch old episodes to analyze characters. And has trust issues regarding Sam Riegel as well, which kind of affect the game play now, too. Which I also can’t blame them for.

(Being in the game, by the way, is pretty stressful just in your average kitchen table game. I don’t meticulously remember what the other players or their characters did, either, so my perception of them is probably skewered. Way more so than when watching other people’s game as an outsider, at the very least.)

(Also, like, remember when Scanlan modified Percy’s memory just to fuck with him? Killed civilians with a fireball when he could have chosen not to? Dimension Door’d out of the wind dimension after Vax dove in there to save him? Had Gilmore invent a scrying poo potion so he could spy on Pike? Illusioned warts and stuff on his genitals to mess with Kima? Scanlan’s always been a trickster, and despite his self-sacrificial tendencies and excellent supportive gameplay, got that chaotic neutral alignment shift for a reason.)
