The most disappointing thing about CR 102 is that when Sam counterspelled Vecna’s counterspell, Matt checked to see if Vecna had enough spell slots left to counter that too, but he didn’t. But what if he had? How many counterspells would have been counterspelled? It feels like a missed opportunity
Okay so without getting into rolling, it is hypothetically possible to just instantly counterspell a counterspell counterspelling a counterspell counterspelling another counterspell counterspelling a counterspell that was also counterspelling a counterspell counterspelling a counterspell that was also a counterspell counterspelling the original spell to be counterspelled. All you need is like 8 casters with access to up to level 9 spells.
And these are all just instant counters. If you go an roll for it, you can stretch this to infinity.
(And then the gods descend from heaven and declare no magic no more. You are all fighters now. Hit each other with quarterstaff, negative strength modifiers, an your d6 hit pool points.)
