Disregarding all other ship discourse, you just have to love the fact that Percy’s first reaction when panicked has consistently been talking about how much he loves Vex, even when no one else knew about the specifics of their relationship yet. It happened during the Thordak fight, it happened after the reverse gravity ceiling of undead, and it happened with Pelor.

On Meddling, Mistresses, and Matrimony – Kimiko93 – Critical Role (Web Series) [Archive of Our Own]
Aka: The proposal fic I need to get out before canon takes it away from me.
Technically only spoilers up to episode 95.
After some prodding from unlikely sources, pondering his own
mortality, and the nature of how history remembers people, Percy finally
decides to ask the question of questions:“Would you be hypothetically amenable to the general concept of marriage?”
(Or: In which Syldor and Vax are helpful in the most disturbing ways,
Percy is doubtful, and Vex actually isn’t too cool for this shit,
except, of course, that she is)
On Meddling, Mistresses, and Matrimony – Kimiko93 – Critical Role (Web Series) [Archive of Our Own]
God dammit I need to get this proposal fic done before canon takes it away from me…
AhahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Man I haven’t felt this strong a need to gloat since Naruto ended. Even though I’ve only been invested in this since, like, last September or October and not spent nearly as many hours agonizing over the OTP.
ANYWAY. The secret is not a pregnancy and it all came out in front of Pelor. I HAVE AN APPROXIMATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE FUTURE, CALL ME NOSTRADAMUS LITE!
Ahem. I am sory. But also celebrating over here. WOOHOOO ENGAGEMENT PARTY!
…Silly Thought
So, god recruitment, huh? This kind of popped in my head last night, and I dunno, it’s dumb, but I like it.
So the group meets Pelor and kinda push Percy forward because, you know, patron god of his city and all that. And Percy tries, he tries so hard not to get all passive-aggressive at him. “Oh, yeah, nice tree you put there. Love what it did when everything went to shit. Absolutely nothing.” Because it’s Percy and he does not do well with this.
Pelor may or may not roll his eyes, but is kind of amused because there is a puny mortal sassing who might just be the most worshipped god in this setting and then lean over and smile at him. “Yes, well, I can tell there is not much ground for a connection between us. So why don’t you just go next door and talk to my wife while I talk to yours and see what we can do.”
Everyone: O_____O
Vex: “…Surprise?”
Percy: “…Yeah, that’s fair.”
So how
likely is it that Percy and Vex have actually been wearing rings ever since
half-way through the time skip, but the entirety of VM just rolled shit on
their perception rolls and hasn’t noticed so far?
…How likely
is it that they could pull that off with an entire pregnancy?
Look at all the fanfic I’ll never finish. Except for maybe the last one, because canon can’t screw that up anymore.
(Though to be fair, some of these are actually finished and can be found here.)
Like, I wouldn’t even have been worried about a Perc’ahlia break up and could have written essays about why not, but y’all went ahead and put the idea in my head.
And now I still think a Perc’ahlia break up is unlikely. And the only way it’ll happen is Taliesin Jaffe’s perpetual need to torture Percy. Dammit.
Goddammit I do not want to engage or start shit in the main tag, but how someone can choose the 70+ episodes of slow burn as their example for how fandom affects game play. What the fuck.
And how can you not buy it from Vex’s part, she has been pushing this since the early thirties, I had trouble buying it from Percy’s part for a bit. Ugh
And Taliesin has kept straight who Percy has heard during the resurrection. Matt told him he heard Vex, that’s what he told the cosplayer as far as we know, and that’s what he’s said on the show once the time was right.
And half of that is Talks Machina content, so the person who posted this can’t even have missed that Laura and Taliesin said the characters have been stewing on this for over 70 episodes or maybe even pre-stream. Gaaaah.
I mean. The fact that they have an audience has always affected some things, like the fancyness of the battle maps, the showiness in the battles, and the inability to pick your nose. But if you really want to see the audience affecting them, look at the live shows.
(And yes, that’s also when the title happened, but you could see Taliesin getting it ready the episode before that, and there was no way of knowing they wouldn’t get to the point where he can use it then. If anything, the cast seemed surprised they cut off before getting to Syldor.)
…And this is why we should keep ship hate out of the main tag, kids.
The full Scrooge Mcduck treatment is nice and all, but I think the hottest moment this episode was when Percy declared Vex to be tax exempt.
